The Dark Allure of Social Media Fame Ends in Tragedy for TikTok Influencer The murder of Cesar Gastelum, a 25 year old TikTok influencer, while livestreaming with friends outside a fast food restaurant in Culiacan, Mexico, has sparked both shock and a sense of inevitability.
This is not the first time an online personality has met their demise in a blaze of digital glory. Gastelum was known for his comedy content and had amassed nearly 600,000 followers on TikTok.
He was part of a livestream challenge with two friends dressed as delivery drivers when the broadcast cut out abruptly after a motorcycle pulled up beside them. Gastelum was shot in the head.
